1:)The latter attempted to “hijack” the Arab street prior to the “Arab revolutions,” and when these revolutions broke out he claimed that they were inspired by the Islamic Revolution in Iran. As for Erdogan, he is trying to seize the opportunity and …
2:)Turkish officials’ latest decision to deploy a missile defense shield comprising an early warning radar system on their territory,…More reading in comment…
3:)However, Iran cannot remain silent on such a sensitive decision because the move is meant to curb Iran’s missile capabilities.
This new stance shows that the Turkish government is totally oblivious to Iran’s position on foreign policy issues.
4:)Non-Arab regional leaders are seeking to win over the Arab street, for they can clearly see that Arab public opinion is taken by their stances, and they are therefore playing on their sentiments and frustrations. …
5:)Turkey is no longer an emerging power but a solid European power, but it is not big enough to solve problems around it, as they are becoming even bigger with the Arab Spring,
6.)Turkey Hopefully, these efforts will persuade to halt the process and reassume its former position as a regional power.

A Turkey expert: “Turkish officials have told : they have no argument with Israel’s Exclusive Economic Zone or its exploitation of gas resources there.… The real threat arises from unilateral decisions by Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots and the Turks, to define maritime boundaries and drill for oil and gas around Cyprus.” So Turkey has borrowed an Arab ploy: threaten Israel, win plaudits, smack your neighbor.
“Never mind the collapse in confidence in Europe, the Palestinian proposal for UN recognition and heightened tensions with neighboring Egypt and longtime ally Turkey. The Israeli economy just keeps growing faster than the rest of the developed world. Israel’s gross domestic product will expand 4.8 percent this year, triple the pace for the average of the 34 advanced economies.”

Thanasi, Turkey has somewhat put itself in a corner with Syria and Israel. This is why things could get out of control and backfire on Turkey and the danger of the situation.
With Syria, they recently announced an arms embargo and sized a ship going to Syria in the Eastern Mediterranean. This is being watch very closely by the Iranians and even Hezbollah. But I believe that Turkey would have not taken this action if Iran had an objection.
With reference to Cyprus and Israel, Turkey understands that it could also drag other nations in to the fray and I do not mean Greece only. The Russian are the ones to watch because of their long relationship with Cyprus and some improved cooperation with Israel. But most importantly, what is happing in the Eastern Mediterranean is a distraction that is being created by Turkey, for it shortcoming with Syria and other issues at home. It is worth noting that Qatar took the lead with Libya and the West with Egypt and somewhat even Syria, not Turkey.
Turkey’s politican approach in the region is mostly to take and give as little back as possible. To over simply it, they want their cake and eat to. In my opinion, it’s one of the reason most do not trust Turkey, including the EU and the US.
But as we all know very well in that the part of the world, politicians are famous for creating beasts and monsters and then lose control of them and that’s the dangers we are potentially facing today. These are just my thoughts.
