Μαραντόνα: «Σαν άλλοι 300 Σπαρτιάτες, κόντρα στη Γερμανία»

Την άποψη ότι η Ελλάδα έχει μία ευκαιρία κόντρα στη Γερμανία εξέφρασε ο Ντιέγκο Μαραντόνα. Μάλιστα, ο θρύλος του Παγκοσμίου ποδοσφαίρου παραλλήλισε τον αγώνα της προημιτελικής φάσης του Euro, με τη μάχη των Θερμοπυλών, τονίζοντας πως αν 300 Έλληνες είχαν τη δυνατότητα να απωθήσουν 10.000 Πέρσες, 11 Έλληνες μπορούν να αντιμετωπίσουν 11 Γερμανούς.
«Ο Φερνάντο Σάντος ξέρει ότι το παιχνίδι της ζωής του είναι στο χέρι του, καθώς αντιμετωπίζει έναν γιγάντιο αντίπαλο. Αλλά, αν 300 Έλληνες ήταν ικανοί να απωθήσουν 10.000 Πέρσες στις Θερμοπύλες, τότε 11 Έλληνες έχουν ευκαιρία απέναντι σε 11 Γερμανούς», ήταν τα λόγια του Μαραντόνα, ο οποίος στη συνέχεια συμπλήρωσε πως «βλέπει» νικητές τους Γερμανούς, με την Εθνική ωστόσο να δείχνει ηρωική αντίσταση.

«Ο Σάντος κατάφερε το θαύμα νικώντας τους Ρώσους και θα πρέπει να ανεβάσει τη ψυχολογία της ομάδας του για την αποψινή αναμέτρηση. Οι Γερμανοί είναι μία ομάδα με πολύ καλή φυσική κατάσταση και πολύ δυνατή. Οι Έλληνες είναι σκληροί και έμπειροι. Το χαρακτηριστικό αυτής της διοργάνωσης είναι η δύναμη και παρά το γεγονός ότι είμαι σίγουρος ότι οι Έλληνες θα αντισταθούν ηρωικά η Γερμανία θα πάρει τη νίκη.

Είναι εύκολο να θαυμάσεις αυτή την ομάδα. Έχει νεαρούς παίκτες με ταλέντο και δύναμη, είναι το φαβορί για την εν λόγω αναμέτρηση, αλλά και για την κατάκτηση του Euro», πρόσθεσε.

“The German team are fit, young, and powerful. The Greeks are tough, old and experienced. This championship has emphasised power and strength, and although I am sure that the Greeks will put up a heroic resistance, Germany should win.

“It’s easy to admire this German team. They have youth, talent and power and are definitely the overwhelming favourites to win this match, and possibly the championship.”

Maradona also wrote that this tournament heralded a change in style, with tall, strong players such as Mario Gomez, Andy Carroll, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo all getting on the scoresheet.

“The European Championship has so far shown a definite shift in the balance between finesse football in favour of pure power,” he said.

“[These big strikers] have all scored fantastic goals that emphasise their physical prowess, a dominance of size and strength.

“Smaller geniuses such as Luka Modric of Croatia, Wesley Sneijder of Netherlands, Andrei Arshavin of Russia have had to go home early in what has evolved into a more physical and faster competition that favours certain physically more powerful national teams.”

Germany's clash against Greece kicks off at 20:45CET on Friday with the winner taking on either England or Italy in the semi-finals.
